Tiger Census - Status of Tigers : Copredators and Prey in India 2022

India harbours approximately 75% global wild tiger population which is reflective of our conservation initiatives thoroughly supported by robust scientific approach. Monitoring tigers to keep a pulse on their numbers is imperative to understand the efficacy of our tiger conservation initiatives.

This report is a symbol of the hard work, persistence and commitment of our country to conserving the world we live in. With the establishment of 53 tiger reserves across the country, it has provided safe havens for tigers to thrive. This success is a testament to the serious efforts of the government, the on- ground untiring effort of the forest department coupled with the collaboration and support of scientists, have made India a global leader in tiger conservation. Our success has inspired other nations to follow suit and adopt similar approaches.
